Our Little Uni is a curated marketplace. As an open marketplace, our service is built on trust, and the safety of participants – both teachers and students is of the utmost importance to us.
These are the ways we safeguard our community and facilitate learning:
Our Little Uni classes use external video conferencing platforms such as google meet and Zoom. All Zoom meetings are password protected to ensure only teachers and students can access them. Our meetings are customized to give control to teachers (not students) over basic functions like screensharing and audio/video, which allows teachers to take swift action in the event of a problem arising in class.
Parents are able to post public reviews about classes that their child has participated in. These reviews are a resource for you to learn more about the class and teacher to help you decide whether to enroll your learner.
We manually screen teachers and classes and this involves several steps:
- -Application: we screen every teacher for their background, teaching experience and subject matter expertise and references from other educational institutions that they have worked with before.
- -Review classes: every class is audited by our team before it is published.
- -Background check: we check DBS certificates or equivalents for identity verification and criminal record checks before a teacher starts their first class.
Online safety practices:
We only allow students (age 4-15 years) in the class. We do not allow any adults for safety reasons. Please help your children learn and practice positive classroom behaviours before class starts, such as understanding the basic features on Zoom, which allow them to engage respectfully in class without distracting other learners.
We also recommend supervising your learners while they attend a class until they can participate safely and respectfully on their own.
