Session 1
Landscapes – Turner
In this first session participants learn about the works of Artist William Turner and follow the teacher to create a step-by-step landscape painting incorporating both wet and dry water-colour techniques to create their own landscape inspired by William Turner.
Materials
· Watercolour/thick cartridge paper (A4 or A3 size)
· Watercolour paints
· Container of water
· Paintbrushes
· Pencil
Session 2
Landscapes – Imagined
In this session participants are given a refresher on colour theory/mixing/wet and dry painting and will learn a range of new skills including:
· Printing using tinfoil
· Creating textures from mark-making
· Using collage to create a gradient depicting lighter and darker areas.
They will then follow the teacher to create their own landscapes in this style.

· Recycled tinfoil pieces
· Container of water
· Coloured papers/wrappers from recycling

Session 3
Mark-Making, mindfulness and Surrealism
In this session participants will start with a meditation/body-scan and will then be introduced to the works of Surrealist Artist’s Salvador Dali and Max Ernst.
After an introduction to the Artists they will explore mark-making and mixed-media processes using wax, pencils and watercolours to create mindful marks/patterns with spontaneous outcomes and interesting juxtapositions.
For the final part of the session they will create their own Surrealist inspired artwork.

Session 4
“Scene Quotidien”
In this session participants will learn about viewpoints and perspective (e.g. how an image will work from different angles e.g. two people having a conversation with a close-up of their faces or a how a place would look straight on versus above).
Students will start by drawing an object from different angles and observing the view/detail and will then follow the teacher to create a step-by-step daily scene (e.g. a marketplace with people).

Session 5
Optical illusions
In this session participants will learn how to create a series of Optical illusions and will then go on to create their own optical illustration using the techniques learned in the session.

· 3 or more sheets of watercolour/cartridge paper (A4 or A3 size)
· Pencil
· Colouring pens/pencils (optional)
Session 6
Mindful Mandalas and Zentangles
In this session participants are introduced to Mandalas and Zentangles and their context. They then go on to create a step-by-step zentangle, which they fill with their own pattern/illustration and then develop/transfer these illustrations onto a Mandala drawing
